DHUBRI, Sept 17 - Forest officials stopped a turtle meat sale inside a sealed club at Dhubri town on Wednesday.
It was informed that a turtle weighting about 20 kg was cut into pieces by miscreants and they were selling it at a price of Rs 1,200 per kg in Boys Club, Dhubri on Wednesday morning violating the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The club located near Mela Maidan, Dhubri, was earlier sealed by the administration for illegal activities and was sealed again on Wednesday.
However, no one was arrested for the sale as the miscreants managed to flee the spot. Forest officials confirmed that it was a group of four to five people involved in the illegal sale, who are now absconding but will be behind the bar soon.
