Tura doctors remove 22 kg ovarian tumour

TURA, Oct 25 - In a first of its kind in Garo Hills, a 22 kg ovarian tumour was removed from a patient by a group of doctors at District Maternity and Child Hospital at Tura in West Garo Hills. The tumour was removed from a 23 year-old patient who hailed from Baghmara in South Garo Hills.

The operation was led by Dr Vince Chimpoo M Momin (gynecologist), Dr Blandina Marak (anaesthesist) and assisted by Dr Bithi Sangma and Dr Azuma Shira. The team was also helped by Cris Noel Sangma and Arnold Momin (OT assistants). Dr Vince Momin stated that the patient was being treated by a local quack for the past two years before seeking medical advice. �She was admitted at the hospital last week and surgery was performed on Oct 24,� said Dr Momin.
