PATACHARKUCHI, June 12 - Rich tributes were paid to Achyut Lahkar, one of the architects of the concept of mobile theatre, on the occasion of his fourth death anniversary, at Pathsala on Friday. His widow Kiran Lahkar, Abahan Theatre producer Krishna Roy, members of the Pathsala Press Club and locals paid floral tributes at Lakhars samadhi.

On October 2, 1962, Achyut Lahkar gave birth to Nataraj Theatre at Pathsala. Later, other groups like Kohinoor Theatre, Abahan Theatre, Aradhana Theatre, Pallavi Theatre were formed, which have been giving ample scope to artistes and workers across the state.

Krishna Roy, who has spent 60 years in the field, lamented that Lahkar was deprived of national recognition, and urged the government to award him the national award posthumously. Kiran Lahkar also said that the hard work done by her late husband to provide employment to many artistes went in vain and urged the government to recognise his efforts.
