GUWAHATI, Oct 9 - Wilson Mathews (Willie), who has retired as chief manager of The Assam Tribune Group of Publications, was today accorded a warm farewell and felicitation by the Group.
The meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Executive Editor of The Assam Tribune Prasanta J Baruah. Debasish Sinha explained the objective of the farewell meeting, recalling the contributions of Mathews, his managerial acumen, professionalism and amenable nature.
Tankeswar Kakati, Rabin Das, Manoranjan Sarkar, Champak Barbara, Ramendu Sinha, Pranjal Hazarika, Partha Pratim Hazarika, Ajit Patowary and Nandaram Barman recalled their association with Mathews and the role he played in making effective the modernisation drives initiated by the management.
Mathews also reminisced about his long stint with the newspaper house and thanked all the employees for their affection and cooperation. Stressing the importance of team work, he urged his colleagues to put up a dedicated effort for the betterment of the organisation.
On October 7, office staff of the newspaper house organised a farewell meeting for Mathews, which was presided over by Tapan Bordoloi. A number of office staff members including PD Goswami, Manjil Borgohain, Jiten Kalita, Niyati Rani Sinha, Konika Barman, Banajit Bhattacharjee and Tulika Pathak among others, spoke on the occasion.
