GUWAHATI, Oct 29 � The Assam Tribune Colosseum Quiz, 2012 � an open quiz was organised jointly by The Assam Tribune and Social Action Network (SAN), an NGO at the Pragjyoti ITA Cultural Complex on October 28, a press release said.
The event was inaugurated by Rajnish Kumar, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, LHO, Guwahati in presence of actress Bidya Rao, Sanjay Dixit and VS Sinha of State Bank of India, LHO, Guwahati, Prof Dilip Kumar Barua, Executive Editor of The Assam Tribune PJ Baruah, chairperson of the IRADO Banajit Talukdar and Principal AC Deka, Director General, Social Action Network and other distinguished guests.
The main attraction of the event was Art-o-Fact quiz round by miracle artist Rabin Bar along with his sand painting which enthralled the audience immensely. This programme was specially designed and brought to the audience and quiz lovers by the Integrated Rural Artisans Development Organisation (IRADO), Guwahati. There was Bharat Natyam recital by 16 disciples of actress and dancer Bhanurashmi of the dance academy Tejaswini, Guwahati.
Organising this Quiz has a basic objective � promoting the culture of Assam and North East India along with the world culture. Of the six teams selected for the Grand Finale following a well-contested preliminary round participated by hundreds of teams, the team represented by Amrit Jyoti Sharma and Hemendu Arnav Neog emerged champions to claim the coveted Hari-Swarna Memorial Trophy, while the team represented by Dilip Kumar Sarma and Dipankar Koushik became the Runner-up.
The champion team bagged two laptops and the Runner-up team bagged two tablets. The other finalist teams were awarded, along with other prizes, prizes Gold Cinema, books from Rekhs Prakashan, prizes from Bharali Brothers. About 1000 prizes were awarded to the winners and the audience. The title sponsor of the event was Seven Sisters and co-sponsor was Seven Sisters Hospital, Goalpara. During the event The Assam Tribune Colosseum Annual Awards, 2011 were awarded to as many as eight awardees for their contributions to The Colosseum Quiz column during the year 2010-2011.
The quiz was conducted by Prof Dilip Kumar Barua and Neelotpal Deka. The research & concept of the event was by Neelotpal Deka & Quiz Associates. The anchoring of the event was beautifully lent by Dabu Narayan Konwar. The event was managed by Ditul Das, Ranjan Baruah and Ahir Bhairab Barthakur.
