Trafficked woman, child rescued

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, July 17 - A mother and her child, both sold by human traffickers, were rescued in Lakhimpur on Monday. The victims identified as Sonia George Chadak (35) and her son Anan Chadak (5), wife and son of Nuwas Chadak of Bokanallah, Seajuli under Bogeenadi Police Station of Lakhimpur were rescued by members of All Adivasi Students� Association, Lakhimpur unit from trafficker�s captivity in Raga, Arunachal Pradesh.

It has been alleged that one human trafficker named John from Deejo Tea Estate had sold the woman and her son to a man in Goa-Simla village in Raga near Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh for Rs 80,000, six months back. The woman was promised a good job in Arunachal Pradesh allegedly by John. A case has been registered against John in Bogeenadi police station.
