Trafficked girls rescued

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Sept 7 - Three young girls trafficked from Lakhimpur and neighbouring Sonitpur districts were rescued by members of All Adivasi Students� Association of Assam (AASAA) in Lakhimpur recently.

The rescued girls were identified as Julie Garh (16) of Deejo Tea Estate, Thurki Tanti (10) of Khanamukh in Sonitpur and Koel Kumari (19) of Rangapara in Sonitpur district. The girls were trafficked to Arunachal Pradesh some years ago as child labourers. The AASAA members rescued the girls from Arunachal Pradesh with the help of Harmutty Police Outpost in Lakhimpur district and Doimukh Police Station of Arunachal Pradesh.
