GUWAHATI, Oct 13 � City Police (Traffic) has made elaborate arrangements for ensuring public safety on the day of immersion of Goddess Durga in the greater Guwahati area on October 17. On that day, there will be several restrictions on the movement of vehicles. �
As per the arrangement for Kacharighat, on October 17, except the idol-carrying vehicles, no other vehicles will be allowed to enter MG Road from the Chief Justice gate point to Cotton Collegiate School road crossing and on KLB Road from the Sessions Court point to the Chief Justice gate point.
Vehicular traffic coming from the TC Point side towards DC Court will be diverted towards the RBI Point and vehicular traffic coming from Uzanbazar side towards DC Court will be diverted towards GNB Road. Similarly, vehicular traffic coming from Bharalumukh side towards DC Court will be diverted towards HB Road via the Cotton Collegiate School point, an official release said.�
According to the traffic plan, idol-carrying vehicles coming from Uzanbazar, Kharguli, Silpukhuri, Chandmari, Noonmati, Geetanagar and Zoo Road will be allowed to proceed to Kacharighat (DC Court) via TC Point, District Library Point, KLB Road and Chief Justice gate point. Image-carrying vehicles coming from the Bhangagarh-Dispur side to Kacharighat will proceed via Bharalu bridge, ASEB Road, Ulubari Chariali, TC Point, District Library Point, KLB Road and Chief Justice gate point. Vehicles coming from Panbazar, Railway station side will also be diverted towards the District Library point. Vehicles coming from Kalapahar, Birubari, Sarabbhati, Chabipool, Bishnupur and Chatribari will proceed up to Panbazar Water Tank via Sarabbhati, Nepali Mandir, Panbazar Flyover and from there the vehicle will proceed towards Kacharighat. After immersion, the vehicles will go out through LNB Road towards Panbazar over-bridge.�
Separate arrangements have been made for Pandughat. Here all the idol-carrying vehicles of Maligaon, Jalukbari and Pandu areas will proceed to Pandughat for immersion. The vehicles will enter through Maligaon-Pandu Road and after the immersion; the empty vehicles will come through Adabari-Pandu Road. The restrictions will be imposed from 10 am on October 17 and will remain in force till completion of immersion.�
For parking of vehicles of spectators, the vehicles coming from Chandmari and Ulubari side towards DC�s Court will be parked on LNB Road. The vehicles coming from Uzanbazar side towards DC�s Court will be parked on MG Road from Planetarium to Raj Bhawan. The vehicles coming from Bharalumukh side will be parked on HB Road from Panbazar point to Fancy Bazar.
