Traders selling substandard mustard oil fined

GUWAHATI, Aug 24 � Food business operators selling �substandard� and misbranded mustard oil in the Guwahati market have been penalized with fines under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.

The cases were detected by Samiran Baruah, Food Safety Officer, Kamrup (Metro). The judgement was passed by Additional District Magistrate (Health), Kamrup (Metro) F Ahmed on the basis of the reports of the Food Analyst, Assam and the Referral Laboratory, Gaziabad.

M/s Shri Nath Ji Edible Oil Products of Morena, MP, has been directed to pay a fine of Rs 20,000 for manufacturing and selling substandard mustard oil in the brand name �Tractor�. M/s BR Oil Industry, Morena has been asked to pay a fine of Rs 20,000 for selling the substandard mustard oil with brand name �Do Phool�.

The third Judgment was given in connection with the manufacturing and selling of substandard mustard oil in the brand name of �Jayaka� by M/s Vaibhav Oil Mills of Morena. He ordered M/s Vaibhav Oils to pay a sum of Rs 25,000 as a fine for the said offence. Also, in an earlier order, a fine of Rs 5000 was imposed for labeling defect in the blended edible vegetable oil with brand name �Mast Health�.
