Thunderstorm hits normal life at Tura

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

TURA, May 30 - In an indicator of poor civic planning, a sudden thunderstorm in Tura town today left many areas waterlogged.

Many localities, including the Ringrey tri-junction, Chandmari and the road to the Don Bosco College came under mud and slush. Motorists faced a hard time navigating through the storm water on the roads.

Such waterlogging is uncommon for a hilly town. This is definitely due to clogged drains. Authorities should take notice and ensure that drains are cleared on a regular basis, said a local resident, AM Marak.
