GUWAHATI, July 24 - Urmimala Das, a city-based animal activist has sought police protection after she was allegedly threatened with death by a person whose harassed dog she had rescued on May 18 this year.
According to Das, who is the founder secretary of Avinava Prayash, she and her friend with the help of police, had rescued the one-year-old female dog from the residence of its owner in Jayanagar area.
The dog was in a very critical condition and we have started her treatment. In the rescue and treatment work, Nandini Barua of the Purpose Foundation also helped me a lot. But on July 22, when I took the dog to the Veterinary College for a check-up, the owner also came to the hospital and misbehaved with me, Das said.
She alleged that the person threatened to kill her, after which she filed a complaint with the Dispur Police Station against him and sought protection.
