Telemedicine facility opened at NEIGRIHMS

SHILLONG, April 29 - Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today inaugurated the telemedicine facility at the NEIGRIHMS here to provide remote medical access to the people of the State. Sangma said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the �use of technology has become all the more important in all aspects of our lives�.

�We are in the COVID Age and we need to adopt new ways of doing things. The two-seat telemedicine centre has been activated to respond to the current situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic,� Sangma said.

The Chief Minister said that the telemedicine centre would be integrated with the 108 helpline to facilitate a single-point contact through which citizens can get medical advice. Sangma stated that the centre�s prime objective would be to connect different ICUs and healthcare centres to provide better healthcare.
