Techniche 2012 evokes interest among youths

GUWAHATI, Sept 1 � IIT Guwahati�s annual techno-management festival Techniche 2012, which was inaugurated yesterday, evoked much interest among the youths.

IIT Guwahati�s Director, Prof Gautam Barua inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Guests present in the inauguration ceremony included the dean of student affairs of IIT Guwahati K Patel, SM group corporate relations head, DD Khound, senior research scientist at MIT Media Labs Walter Bender, among others.

Convener of the event Marmeek Kosambia said that Techniche�12 had got a perfect start with �Guwahati half marathon� and by its nationwide robotics competition �Escalade� and international school level championship �Technothlon.�

The theme for Techniche-2012 is �Perfection is pixelated�. �The objective to promote such an event is to provide a platform to budding engineers, entrepreneurs, innovators and technocrats of the country to showcase their talent, skills and knowledge in fierce competitions and be inspired by leaders of innovation,� said Rajeev Aggarwal, Director, SM Group, a sponsor of the event.

This year the prime attractions of Techniche are Robocalypse, Libraria, Escalade, and a host of other competitions, an official release stated.

Lars Hoogweg, chief technology officer Nimbuzz, graduate from University of Amsterdam today interacted with students about the strength, weakness, opportunities and threats for Nimbuzz and also about various trends of application market. He also had a technical discussion about the development of Nimbuzz.

Raghunathan, the CEO of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation of the GMR Group, delivered his lecture on his experience in his life. He also had an interactive session with the students after his lecture.

Prabhu Chawla, the Editorial Director of The New Indian Express Group and host of the new talk show �Sachichi Baat� on ETV Hindi channels came to the fest and had an very good interactive session with the participants of the industrial conclave.

Satish Jha a writer, editor, and a successful social entrepreneur and information technology and healthcare management professional, delivered his lecture on entrepreneurship. He guided the students by sharing his experiences.

Several exhibitions have also been put up as part of the event. It showcases a Diesel loco shed, Indian Meteorlogy Department, Metal Mate by Indian institute of robotics, the Indian Air Force and others.
