NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Sept 6 - The impact of the devastating floods in Lakhimpur district were felt even on Tuesday as the Teachers Day functions had to be observed on roads due to the submerged condition of several schools.

Heavy rain in the district in the recent days caused flowing of river water through the breached portion of the right hand side embankment of Ranganadi in Jainpur village in Aamtola in Lakhimpur on Monday. This inundated Aamtola High School, Aamtola ME School and Aamtola LP School forcing the suspension of classes. This further forced the school authorities to hold the functions of Teachers Day on September 5. Similarly, three more schools of this area had to observe the programme on public roads due to inundation of school campuses.
