GUWAHATI, April 29 - The State government today formed a task force to find out modalities for continuing education through alternative arrangements amidst the lockdown.
Official sources told The Assam Tribune that the task force has been asked to give its recommendations to the State government in a week's time. The first meeting of the panel is slated for tomorrow.
The 14-member panel comprises senior officials of the education department besides educationists and faculty members of universities and colleges.
�The task force has been asked to suggest the education department regarding involvement of all teachers of Higher Secondary schools and colleges in imparting education to all the students through different distance learning mode,� the sources said.
It will also look into the aspect of coverage of teaching of important subjects through radio or television, duration of summer vacation, start of the Class XII session, availability of uniform study materials, strategy of distribution of books to students of Class XI and above, admission procedure of Class XI and above, contribution of research by students of universities and colleges and other issues.
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted imparting of education across the country and the State�s institutions were closed on March 15 and no expected date of reopening can be ascertained at the moment.
Education department officials said that various online modes of imparting education have been launched by the State in the last few days, including a YouTube channel (bishwavidyaassam) where digital classes for VI to X are being held. Contents from the channel can be downloaded as well.
Educational programmes are also being held through All India Radio and Doordarshan for elementary students. Also, the State education department has made available the study materials for Class I to X at the Diksha app in five languages.
