GUWAHATI, Dec 7 - The North East Sector, CISF, Guwahati, has launched Swachhata Pakhwada-2019 near Dighalipukhuri. All the 15 units under NES, CISF, have also launched the Swachhata Pakhwada simultaneously, which will continue for another week.
The launch programme begun with a pledge-taking ceremony administered by Siddhartha�Shankar Sarmah, CISF, DIG-NEZ, Guwahati. A hundred CISF personnel participated in the event in the city, the participating personnel being drawn from CISF unit IOC, Guwahati, OPS, Noonmati and North East Sector, CISF Guwahati, including the NE Zone and group headquarters Guwahati.
The pledge-taking was followed by a massive cleanliness drive around the Dighalipukhuri area. The participating groups cleaned the whole peripheral area for two hours, in addition to the tank area, the Nehru Park area of Cotton University was also cleaned.
During the drive, the CISF personnel also displayed banners and placards for cleanliness information, education and communication. During the event, the CISF DIG interacted with local communities and joggers and informed them about the Vision of Swachhata Pakhwada.
For the next fortnight, all the 15 units of NES will try to achieve the quantified goals of cleanliness by organising various awareness campaigns across the four states of the Northeast, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
�The idea is to engage with local communities on a massive scale, so that educational, social and cultural institutions become an agent of behavioural change. Adopted schools, colleges and places of religious importance will actively participate in various events during Swachhata Pakhwada across the length and breadth of the nearby areas of CISF units,� Sarmah said.
