ITANAGAR, Sept 7 - Three villages in Tawang district namely, Manpat, Gomkelling and Kitpi have been chosen to be developed under the Smart Village Movement (SVM).
Manpat (a cluster of seven villages), Gomkelling (three) and Kitpi (three) have been selected for the SVM on the basis of a feasibility study. This was disclosed during a meeting held at the Tawang Deputy Commissioner�s conference hall on Monday last. The meeting was attended by all department heads of the district.
Presenting the concept and methodology of the project, regional associate Toniya Lollen said that the SVM aims to develop 100 villages in Arunachal Pradesh by building platforms for villagers to connect them to the global market, which will empower them to achieve inclusive growth through innovations and co-innovations.
The need of market linkages for local merchants, challenges faced by new entrepreneurs in the region, sources of funding, network connectivity, requirement of staff dedicated to SVM and other like issues were discussed at length.
