Storm lashes lower Assam areas

TIHU, April 10 - A violent storm followed by heavy rain lashed Tihu and Kaithalkuchi areas on Thursday night.

The storm that hit the region around 8.30 pm damaged many houses, and uprooted many trees. Tin roofs of many houses were blown away and eletricity poles were also uprooted.

Due to this destruction, eletricity supply was badly affected and there was no powere in many places till the filling of this report on Friday morning.

The most affected villages were Gobaradal, Kaithalkuchi, Bali, Haribhanga, Makhibaha, Piplibari, Jalkhana, Bhathuwakhana, Nanyattari, Haldhibari, Sialmari, Ranakuchi, Bargaon, Ratanpur, Bargaon, Maturapur, Kanimara, and Tihu town.

ANN Service adds from Patacharkuchi: A hailstorm lashed Bajali and its surrounding areas, causing intensive damage to residential buildings. Trees and electric posts were uprooted, after the storm hit the region around 8.30 pm. Electricity supply has been snapped in the entire area.
