State�s tallest golden pagoda installed in N Lakhimpur

GUWAHATI, March 22 - A golden pagoda installation ceremony was held at the Buddha Bihar campus in Borpathar Khamti village of Narayanpur in North Lakhimpur district during March 18-20.

The golden pagoda � said to be the tallest and costliest in the State � was dedicated to the people at a function held on the occasion. It is also expected to give a boost to tourism in the area.

Dr Mangseng Longkeng, a young doctor of the village, donated the golden pagoda. The event was attended by a large number of people including 34 Buddhist bhikkhus besides scholars on Buddhism from Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar, a press release said. A colourful religious procession comprising hundreds of Buddhist and non-Buddhist people was another highlight of the occasion.
