GUWAHATI, Sept 7 - In a bid to add teeth to the maintenance of authentic land records which is regarded as a key to efficient management of land, the State government has decided to start the process of transfer of lat mandals and kanongos across the State.
At a review meeting held here on Thursday on the implementation of the Brahma Committee Report with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the chair, a decision was taken to ask the Director of Land Records to prepare a proposal to be submitted to Revenue and Disaster Management Department for drafting a notification to give shape to transfer of lat mandals and kanongos across the State.
The move has been necessitated to facilitate sharing of knowledge and better management of land records throughout the State.
Since lat mandals and kanongos hold the key at the bottom level of revenue administration and in its efficiency, transparency and accountability, the move is intended to help the State government essentially to facilitate transfer of knowledge and authentic land records management.
Thursday�s meeting was also attended by Science and Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta, Pension and Public Grievances Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Minister of State for Revenue and Disaster Management Bhabesh Kalita, MLA of Dibrugarh Prasanta Phukan, Legal Advisor to Chief Minister Santanu Bharali, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Lohiya, and senior officers from the Directorate of Land Records.
