State Govt directs 25 pc rise in fares of commercial vehicles

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 - The State government vide a recent notification, has directed the State Transport Authority and the regional transport authorities of Assam to fix the maximum fares of various commercial vehicles with an increase of 25 per cent against existing fares.

According to the notification, the maximum fare per passenger per kilometre for an ordinary stage carriage will be Re 0.99 and for long-distance stage carriages and express buses with limited stoppages, the fare will be Rs 1.08 per kilometre per passenger.

The maximum fare for long-distance stage carriages, deluxe super expresses, all Assam tourist omnibus and all India omnibus (night service) will be Rs 1.33 per km per passenger. The fare for executive class (A/C) will be Rs 1.54 and for hill areas it will be Rs 1.65.

The maximum fare per passenger in per km will be Rs 0.94 for all Assam omni tourist vehicles (Tata 407) mini bus and contract carriage bus (ordinary) in suburban areas.

In case of petrol-operated tourist taxi and local taxi, the fare will be Rs 37.50 for the first km and Rs 20.31 for every subsequent km. In case of diesel-operated tourist taxi and local taxi, the rate will be Rs 28.13 for the first km and Rs 12.50 for every subsequent km. In case of Tata Sumo (taxi or cab) the fare will be Rs 1.88 and for Vikram diesel three-wheeler, etc., (seating capacity for seven passengers) the rate will be Rs 9.38 for the first three km and Rs 3.13 for every additional km.

In case of city bus service, the maximum fare per passenger per km will be Rs 5.48 for a route length of 0-3 km, Rs 7.81 for a route length of 3-5 km, Rs 10.94 for a route length of 5-9 km, Rs 14.85 for a route length of 9-13 km, Rs 18.75 for 13-17 km, Rs 22.66 for 17-21 km and Rs 26.56 for a route length of 21-25 km.

In of case of low floor vehicles, the fare per passenger per km will be Rs 9.38 for a route length of 0.3 km, Rs 10.94 for a route length of 3-5 km, Rs 15.63 for 5-9 km, Rs 18.75 for 9-13 km, Rs 22.66 for a route length of 13-17 km, Rs 26.56 for 17-21 km and Rs 29.69 for a route length of 21-25 km.

The trekker (share taxi) fare will be Rs 9.38 for the first four km and Rs 1.56 for every subsequent km. For autorickshaws the fare will be Rs 25 for the first km against meter reading of Rs 18.75 and Rs 2.38 for subsequent 200 metres.
