State footballer hurt in road mishap

GUWAHATI, Aug 8 � Kamal Chetry, a State level footballer and presently assistant coach of Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) Sports Club, received severe injury in a road accident that took place at Gitanagar area here this morning.

Kamal was returning to his Birkuchi home after morning practice at the Nehru Stadium when his bike was hit by a bus near Gitanagar High School.

The former Santosh Trophy player, Kamal had been a regular player of the ASEB team, and this year he took up the coaching job assisting Ganesh Rai.

He received injuries on the head, leg and abdomen. He has been admitted to the GMCH, ICU.
