Sri Lanka 256/2 at stumps on day one

GALLE (Sri Lanka), July 18 (IANS) - Sri Lanka were 256 for two at stumps on the first day of the first cricket Test against India here Sunday.

Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara (103) and Tharanga Paranavitana (110 not out) guided the innings, sharing a 181-run stand for the second wicket.

Paranavitana and Mahela Jayawardene (8) were at the crease at stumps.

Only 68 overs were bowled in the day and play ended early due to bad light.
