Sports organiser dies from snake bite

GUWAHATI, June 7 - A well-known sports organiser of the Kahilipara area here, Dipen Barman, died of snake bite today.

After catching a cobra in his Santipur residence in Kahilipara, he was trying to release it in the powerhouse complex when suddenly the snake bit him. He was rushed to the GMCH but passed away during the wee hours today. Barman was associated with various sports organisations like Ankur Sangha, Milan Sangha, among others.

He was a leading sports organiser of the locality and took active part in organising several sports activities. Barman, 58, leaves behind three brothers and two sisters.

His last rites were performed at the Bhutnath cremation ground.
