GUWAHATI, March 6 - While announcing the State Budget for Sports, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said an amount of Rs 140,59,89,000 (Revenue) and Rs 33,80,31,000 (Capital) have been allocated for the year 2020-21.
Announcing the Sports Budget, the Finance Minister also said, the State Government seeks to encourage more people to devote their time to sports and excel in it, thereby bringing laurels not only to themselves but also the State. �We hope that more such sportspersons will feel enthused to take sports as a career,� he said. He further revealed, �to encourage sportspersons who win medals in Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games will be offered post of Grade-I officers of the State Government�.
�Our government is pleased to announce Hima Das as the first recipient of this policy. She will be offered the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police.�
