SoO with Assam militant group extended for 6 months

NEW DELHI, Feb 3 (PTI): The Centre has extended the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with UPDS, a militant group operating in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, for a further period of six months, till July 31.

The decision was taken at a tripartite meeting consisting of the representatives of the Centre, Government of Assam and United People's Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) held here recently, officials said.

Tripartite talks on the demands of UPDS are continuing.

The outfit has agreed to the SoO since 2007, they said.
