Six smugglers arrested

SHILLONG, Sept 15 - Six smugglers have been arrested today at Imphal after they were trying to smuggle 36 gold bars inside their rectum, which is worth Rs. 1.79 crore.�

According to a press statement from the Customs headquarters here, officers of Air intelligence Unit, Imphal Customs and CISF personnel made the arrest and seized the gold bars.

The total weigh of the gold bar was 5.97 Kg.

�Part of the consignment was bound for Delhi and rest for Kolkata. All the six persons have been arrested under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962. Further investigation of the case is in progress,� the statement said.
