GUWAHATI, Jan 16 � Citizens across the State will recall the contributions of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala on January 17 that is observed as Silpi Divas. Different organizations have lined up a host of programmes in different parts of the State to honour the playwright, lyricist, poet and first film-maker of the State, whose contributions not only enriched Assamese literature but also paved the way for a new renaissance of reformations in the society.
The All Assam Students� Union (AASU) will observe the day centrally at the birthplace of Rupkonwar in Dibrugarh. The programme has been scheduled at Tamulbari Tea Estate.
