Sikkim CM discusses COVID scene with Guv

GANGTOK, April 29 - Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang called on Governor Ganga Prasad at the Raj Bhawan here on Tuesday to discuss the prevalent COVID-19 situation in the State. Tamang was accompanied by Cabinet ministers, the Chief Secretary, DGP and heads of line departments.

The Chief Minister apprised the Governor of the measures taken by the State Government during the second phase of the ongoing lockdown.

The Governor, on his part, enquired about the welfare of the frontline warriors and the construction status of a testing facility and availability of essential commodities in the State.

Tamang said that the State Government has initiated the process of collecting data of people stranded outside the State. However, these people can return to the State when inter-State transport opens, he added.

�Mobile testing units have been set up at Rangpo and we have already received four testing machines which are being installed at the STNM,� the Chief Minister stated.

The Governor was also briefed on the quarantine facilities marked in the State. The testing laboratory is on the verge of completion and testing machines and technicians are being brought to Sikkim as soon as possible, Tamang said.
