IMPHAL, Feb 28 - Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla on Wednesday inaugurated the 47th edition of the Manipur Shumang Leela Festival at Th Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, here. The festival, which is being attended by 12 female and nine male groups, has been organised by the Manipur State Kala Akademi.
The inaugural function was attended by Commissioner (Art and Culture) M Lakshmikumar Singh, noted artists, Shumang Leela groups and art lovers. The festival will continue till March 16.
As part of the inaugural function, a souvenir was also released by the Governor. Prizes were distributed among the winners of the 46th All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival.
