Section 144 Cr PC clamped

SIVASAGAR, Sept 16 - As a precautionary measure against disruption of public peace and protection of public property, gathering of more than five persons at public place, raising donations from private or public organizations, erection of martyr stone, holding rally, meetings, wall writings and slogan printing have been banned under Section 144 CrPC with immediate effect until further orders in entire Sivasagar district by Bijit Das, Additional District Magistrate, Sivasagar.

Fearing anti-social activities, the order barred pillion riding except children below 12 years and persons above 60, government officials, women and police personnel. Under the order selling and buying of items of health hazard like gutka, Triranga, Sikhor, all tobacco products and plastic carry bags below 50 microns have been banned in the district.

Night curfew has been clamped along the Assam-Nagaland border area and no vehicle will be allowed to ply on roads up to five kms inside Assam from 6 pm to 6 am.
