GUWAHATI, Jan 11 � Eminent artiste and Sattriya exponent Ramkrishna Talukdar was honoured with the �Kala Gaurav� award by Purvottar Nritya-Naat Mahotsav Aru Nrityanjali Awards Udjapan Samiti recently.
Talukdar has been engaged in promoting Sattriya dance across the nation and abroad since the 1980s, and the award is in recognition of his endeavour, a press release said.
Asom Sanskritik Mahasabha had earlier honoured Talukdar with a lifelong contribution award in 2011.
Talukdar has been training students of Sattriya dance in several countries such as the USA, Russia and Japan. A graduate in Sattriya dance from Gauhati University, Talukdar is the first A-grade artiste of Sattriya dance in Delhi Doordarshan. He also happens to be a panel artiste from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.
