Sangma injured in road accident

SHILLONG, June 25 � Former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma, his wife Soradini K Sangma and former Rajya Sabha member, BB Dutta, were injured in a road mishap in Bangladesh on Friday.

Purno Sangma�s son Conrad Sangma said the mishap occurred in Munshinagar area under Moulvibazar district around 6 pm.

The accident occurred after the vehicle in which Sangma and the others were travelling hit a vehicle from behind.

All three were administered preliminary medical care at a hospital in the area and are being brought to Shillong.

He added all three are on their way back to Shillong via Tamabil by road and they will be taken to the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences here, Conrad said.

The State government has arranged ambulances to bring the Sangmas and Dutta to Shillong.

Purno Sangma and Dutta were on a five-day visit to Dhaka to attend an international seminar on war crimes trial. Sangma also met Bangladesh Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina during his visit to Dhaka.
