Salbagan thrash MP team to enter final

UDALGURI, Sept 21 - Salbagan Football Club of Gossaingaon today entered the final of the ongoing 24th Bodofa Upen Brahma All India Gold Cup Football Tournament.

In the second semifinal at the Udalguri Stadium here today, the Gossaingaon boys outplayed Madan Maharaj Football Club of Bhopal 8-2.

The deadlock was broken by Salbagan striker Mithinga Narzary in the 11th minute but the Nigerian striker of Madan Maharaj equalised in the 20th minute.

However, after the equaliser, Salbagan FC started raiding the opponent territory with some planned moves and took the lead in the 41st minute through Langaram Basumatary. Joseph pumped in four goals in the 44th, 61st, 68th and 90th minute respectively while November Basumatary added another in the 60th minute. It was Sahil Thapa of the Bhopal outfit who managed to reduce the margin in the 81st minute.

Salbagan FC will take on Nongrim Hills Sporting Club of Shillong in the final which is slated for September 23.
