GOSSAIGAON, May 3 - Sal logs worth at least Rs 3 lakh were seized from four Tata Magic vehicles from Hakma and Anthaibari villages at Padmabil under Kachugaon PS in Gossaigaon subdivision in Kokrajhar district recently.
It may be mentioned here that the DFO of Kachugaon Forest Division, Motilal Basumatary along with the Forest Protection Force detected a Tata Magic vehicle (AS 16 C 2958) last Wednesday at Zinjribil with sal logs. The Zinjiribil village of Mukuldanga area under Kachugaon Reserve Forest is infamous for illegal tree felling. The Forest Team along with the Protection Force conducted continuous raids thereafter and seized four Tata Magic vehicles laden with sal logs (kundas) from the aforementioned villages. All the seized logs and firewood have been kept at Kachugaon Forest Division 0ffice at Gossaigaon.
