Sabha to flag off Moitri Bandhan Yatra from Udalguri tomorrow

UDALGURI, Aug 31 - Asam Sahitya Sabha, the premier literary organisation of the State has resolved to start the Moitri Bandhan Yatra on September 2 from Udalguri town.

This was informed by Kamaleswar Sarmah, general secretary of Udalguri district committee of the literary organisation.

The programme will start with the ASS flag being hoisted by Devaraj Sapkota, president of Udalguri district committee of ASS followed by smriti tarpan by Akhil Kalita, coordinator of the Mangalchandi Brahma Language Literature and Cultural Research Centre followed by an open session which will be attended by Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi, president of the premier literary organisation as chief guest and Padum Rajkhowa, secretary general of ASS, Minister Rihon Daimari, BTC Speaker Tridip Daimari and Kamalakanta Mochahary, general secretary of Janajatiya Sahitya Sabha will attend the session as distinguished guests.

Khiteswar Sarmah, former senior journalist of Dainik Asom from Udalguri and author of dozens of books in Assamese and retired teacher will be honoured on the occasion as Udalguri Ratna by the Asom Sahitya Sabha.

It may be mentioned here that �Moitri Bandhan Yatra� is an initiative undertaken by the Sahitya Sabha to bring all the ethnic and indigenous literary bodies of the State closer to each other so that they could cooperate with each other when called for and create a sense of belongingness among the ethnic tribes of the State via literary and cultural bridges.
