RSS chief Bhagwat reaches Silchar, likely to meet Assam-Tripura CMs

SILCHAR, Sept 27 - To take stock of the affairs of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh across the North East, the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reached Silchar on Friday evening as a part of his three-day trip to southern Assam.

According to sources, the Bhagwat will interact with the RSS office bearers of the region and also address a session with leading citizens of Silchar during his stay here.

After touching down at the airport, Bhagwat was welcomed by veteran functionaries of the RSS. The reached the Keshav Niketan at Ambikapatty locality amidst heavy security cover. Later in the evening, Bhagwat met the RSS pracharaks of North-East at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, in Ramnagar. Insiders informed that apart from formal discussions on the affairs of the Sangh, the closed-door meeting dwelled upon the consequences of the NRC list which was published on August 31 last.

Interestingly, amidst these developments, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will arrive here on Saturday to take part in the closing ceremony of the State-level Poshan Maah and also inaugurate the �Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao� campaign in a meeting at the Police Parade ground. Also, it is learnt that Sonowal is like to meet the RSS chief and discuss vital issues like the NRC and also the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Moreover, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb is also scheduled to reach Silchar on Sunday as a part of his two-day visit. Sources said that Deb is also likely to interact with Bhagwat over the NRC issues in Tripura as per the vision of the Government.
