NORTH GUWAHATI, March 29 The much-hyped ropeway project between Kacharighat and Rajaduar, constructed under the supervision of the GMDA, the foundation stone of which was laid on December 4, 2009 by the Chief Minister, is likely to be delayed following the constraints in constructing the No. 2 column situated on the south bank.

The second column could not be built as required due to appearance of rocks at 21 metres below the river water level.

The ropeway project meant for the benefit of tourists and general commuters crossing the river every day will not materialise immediately. Similarly, the road bridge project between the two banks of the city is also under the back burner for reasons not made public as yet.
