MANGALDAI, Nov 13 - In a successful anti-poaching operation, a team of Forest Protection Force led by BV Sandeep, DFO, Mangaldai Wildlife Division, nabbed Jakir Hussain, a notorious rhino poacher, on Tuesday.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the team apprehended Jakir when he was about to enter Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve in Darrang district for making a poaching attempt.

Jakir, who hails from Nurpur Bhairguri Pathargaon village under the Dhekiajuli police station in Sonitpur district, was allegedly involved in a couple of rhino poaching incidents.

It may be recalled that in September, an alleged rhino poacher was shot dead by a joint team of the police and forest guards in Orang National Park. Authorities have stepped up efforts to check poaching at the national park.
