Restoration of special status urged

GUWAHATI, June 21 The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has demanded restoration of the special State status to the northeastern States of the country.

AIKS general secretary Hannan Molla told reporters here on Saturday that for the past about seven to eight months, a joint request of the NE Chief Ministers for an appointment with the Prime Minister on the issues confronting them, has been lying unattended.

Prime Minister Modi has not been able to find some time to listen to the NE Chief Ministers on their grievances. But he is taking foreign trips regularly to introduce a particular industrialist, who had a phenomenal rise during the past few years, to the international business community.
