Reopening of religious places

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

DIMAPUR, June 11 - The Diocese of Kohima today favoured maintaining status quo by not reopening religious places immediately. Bishop of Kohima James Thoppil, in a release, said a decision in this regard would be taken after holding wider consultations.

Meanwhile, he requested all concerned to maintain status quo and not to reopen the religious places.

The Bishops statement follows the Nagaland Governments decision on Wednesday to allow religious places and places of worship in the State to reopen. However, the Governments decision is subject to adherence to certain conditions and provisions.
