Relief distributed among flood-hit

SILAPATHAR, Sept 18 � World Vision India has distributed relief material among the people of Akajan, Ujoni-Sissitongani, Madhya Sissitongani and Kulajan panchayats under the Sissiborgaon Circle of Dhemaji district.

The relief material was distributed among 5,150 families in 30 villages. The material included rations comprising 25 kg of rice, 1 kg of dal, 1 litre of mustard oil, 1 kg of sugar and 1 kg of salt, and soaps, coconut oil, talcum powder and 1 metre of cloth per family.

World Vision India, which has been extending help to the people since the flood first occurred, is also working for the uplift of the tribal people in the remote villages of Dhemaji district.

In the recent flood, nearly 700 villages and 3,20,000 people have been affected. Many of the flood-hit are still taking shelter at temporary sheds on the river dyke as their houses were washed away.
