Rain triggers landslides in Manipur

IMPHAL, June 20 - Incessant rainfall at isolated locations last night triggered landslides in Manipur today, affecting movement of goods vehicles on the Imphal-Jiribam highway, sources said. Road repair works are already under way.

According to reports, a stretch of the road has caved in near Sinam village along the highway. There are also reports of roads being damaged near the Irang bridge.

A team of drivers and transporters visited the affected area and later appealed to the State Government to take up repair works immediately.

Meanwhile, several rivers have been in a swollen state after rain in the catchment areas.
