Railway heritage park inaugurated at Tinsukia

TINSUKIA, Feb 18 � During the annual inspection, the General Manager of NF Railway, Shiv Kumar on Monday inaugurated the heritage park constructed near New Tinsukia railway station here. The heritage park has many machineries, equipment, furniture etc used in the past years in the Tinsukia railway division from Simaluguri junction to Lekhapani station. People will be able to know how amid difficulties the Railway men extended their services, carrying both men and materials on the rail with the old equipment the General Manager said.

The General Manager also inaugurated the waiting room for the passengers in New Tinsukia Railway Station and an ATM counter of the State Bank of India in the divisional railway manager�s office complex. He expressed his satisfaction over performance of all the officers and staff of the division right from Simaluguri junction.

The general manager inaugurated Sanskriti, a retail sales centre for handicraft products of the Tinsukia unit of NF Railway Women�s Association during his visit.

New administrative building: The administrative block consisting of the principal�s room, office room and a computer room of Hindusthani Vidyalaya, Tinsukia, constructed with a sum of Rs 5 lakh received under the 12th Finance Commission, was inaugurated by local MLA, Rajendra Singh on Monday. The MLA stated that as the State Government has decided to abolish the higher secondary sections from the colleges, all the high schools would be upgraded to the higher secondary level and for that transition the upgrade of infrastructure for such schools has become the need of the hour.

The inaugural function was also attended by the chairman of Tinsukia Municipal Board, Subhasish Bhattacharjee besides other dignitaries, teachers and students.
