Protest against privatisation of power stations

BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 6 - The Biswanath Chariali unit of the Assam State Power Workers� Union and ASEB Pensioners� Association staged a two-hour sit-in demonstration on Friday and protested against the APDCL�s proposed privatisation of 47 33/11 KV sub-stations in the State.

They also opposed �handing over� of historical monuments to the private parties under the government�s �Adopt-a-Heritage� policy. �This is an unethical move on the part of the State Government as the historical sites are the pride of Assam,� they allged.

Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Chairman of the APDCL through AGM Pranab Kumar Gogoi.
