TURA, March 25 - Concerned over indiscriminate felling of trees along the Tura-Dalu Road in West Garo Hills in the name of road widening works, the Association of Democracy and Empowerment (ADE) has sought an investigation by the Forest Department in this regard.

In a release, the NGO stated that the matter was of grave concern. In the name of widening of the National Highway 51 (Paikan to Dalu), the corporation entrusted with the project, is indulged in cutting century-old trees indiscriminately. We are not against development efforts unless the process causes any kind of anxiety to the society, said ADE president Dalseng B Momin.
