Prez visits INA Complex in Manipur

IMPHAL, Nov 22 - President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday visited the Indian National Army (INA) Memorial Complex, Moirang, the place where the Indian tricolour was hoisted for the first time on April 14, 1944. He also paid floral tributes at the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

The President was accompanied by first lady country Savita Kovind and an entourage that included officials of Rashtrapati Bhawan, Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Cabinet Ministers and MLAs.

Kovind is the second President to visit the Memorial after President VV Giri visited the complex on October 21, 1972.

Kovind arrived Imphal on Tuesday on his maiden visit after becoming President and inaugurated the North East Development Summit 2017 and Sangai Festival at City Convention Centre here.
