Premier TT League ends

GUWAHATI, Oct 5 - Humble Rhinos emerged champions in the maiden edition of the Syeda Dania Taski Memorial NHTTF Premier League Table Tennis Tournament which concluded at the Nagen Hazarika TT Foundation (NHTTF) campus, Survey area here last evening.

Gliding Eagles came second while Scary Shark settled for the third position in the 12-team championship organised by the NHTTF among its trainees. Top three teams were awarded cash prizes of Rs 26,000, Rs 18,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

After round robin league top four teams fought in the knock-out semifinals. The champion team, owned by Nilakshi Dutta, was consisting of Agniv, Adrija, Purab, Pranil while Biman Bhagowati was the owner of Gliding Eagles and players were-Aditya, Manzeel, Kashyapi , Surajit. The Scary Shark team, owned by Jugal K Hriday, was consisting of players like-Shankab, Sarfarosh, Kesar, Udipta Dutta.

The closing function was attended by Assam Table Tennis Association secretary Tridib Duvarah as chief guest. Former noted TT players and founders of NHTTF Gautam Hazarika, Modalosa Hazarika, Ghritachi Hazarika Das along with ATTA officials Nayanjyoti Sarma, Biman Bhagawati, Gitartha Das among others were also present in the closing ceremony.

Fourth to sixth position holders were-Giant Whales (4th),�Growling Gorillas (5th)� and Ferocious Tigers and Dominating Elephants (6th). Cash prizes were awarded to all the participating teams.
