Prag Cine Awards presented

GUWAHATI, March 23 � Ajeo, directed by Jahnu Barua, won the best film award at the glittering Prag Cine Award ceremony held at NGV Indoor Stadium, Koramangala in Bengaluru on Saturday evening.

Eminent actress Mridula Barua received the �Lifetime achievement award� for her valuable contribution to the Assamese film industry. Awards were given in 23 categories.

Jadumani Dutta got the best director award for Paani. For his role in Raag, Adil Hussain was adjudged the best actor, whereas Jaya Seal Ghose received the best actress award for Shrinkhol. Momtaz directed by Pulak Gogoi won the best popular film award. Saadri Assamese film Karma Ke Rati won the best film in other language award.

Director and actor Kenny Basumatary got a jury special mention for the film Local Kung-fu.

The best singer awards in male and female categories were bagged by Rupam Bhuyan for Momtaz and Madhusmita Borthakur for Shinyor respectively. Anurag Saikia got the best music director award for Shinyor.

The award function was attended by most of the prominent artistes of the Assamese film industry and other eminent personalities from the South Indian film and television fraternity. Popular actress Mahima Choudhury, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Gangaraj, actress and Rajya Sabha MP B Jayashree, MTV VJ Anusha, filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli among others took part in the award ceremony. Mahima Choudhury released the souvenir of Prag Cine Awards.
