GUWAHATI, Oct 29 The Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) is going to realise an additional amount of 0.27 paisa per unit of power as Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) charge from its consumers with effect from November 1 next. This charge will be included in the power bills served on the consumers from December onward.
Disclosing this, APDCL sources told this newspaper here today that the power company has been realising an amount of 0.76 paisa per unit of power from its consumers as FPPPA charge at present.
Now with the rise in the prices of natural gas and other fuels used in the thermal power stations, it has become a compulsion for the APDCL to add an amount of 0.27 paisa per unit to the existing FPPPA charge. With this, the total hike in the name of FPPPA charge will stand at Rs 1.03 per unit.
The FPPPA charge was raised by 0.7 paisa per unit with effect from August last. Prior to it, the FPPPA charge was 0.69 paisa per unit of power consumed.
In fact, sources said, the recent calculations have shown that the FPPPA charge should have been Rs 1.03 per unit with effect from July last. Since the APDCL is not giving effect to it in a retrospective manner, the gap between the actual and realization of the FPPPA charge would be adjusted in the subsequent quarters. It needs mention here that the FPPPA charges are adjusted quarterly.
